After growing up in Sydney and Brisbane, I attended Melbourne University for medical school and then completed Neurosurgery training in Melbourne and a PhD in brain tumours. I spent my fellowship year focusing on brain tumour surgery at Harvard University and Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA and then a further six months in Paris, France. I am also a fully trained spine surgeon, with special interest in minimally invasive techniques including XLIF, ALIF, OLIF/ATP. I have been a visiting consultant neurosurgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital since 2008.
I have an active research laboratory at the University of Melbourne.
Outside of work, I am married to an anaesthetist and have two young children. I enjoy travel, trail running, backcountry skiing and swimming.
